Fashion Idol of the Week- Vera

This week’s fashion idol is Vera, who is not only a super stylish persona but also an aspiring fashion designer.  The clothes she designs reflect her inner beauty, confidence and sophistication. Vera has gained much of her expertise from frequent traveling around the globe and learning much about the different cultures, the fashion, the art, but most importantly how differently everyone dresses. She’s now able to combine all that in her exquisite, one of a kind, handmade pieces of work.
Check out Vera’s blog, Deep in Vogue, that contains her fashion adventures, as well as her Etsy store where you can purchase some of her remarkable work.

Here is the Interview:

1.       Name, age, location.

Vera, 23, Vienna/Austria, Sofia/Bulgaria

2.      What do you do for a living?

I have a business selling electronics on Ebay.

3.      When did you fall in love with the fashion world?

When we got cable tv at home for the first time. I was 10 and immediately drawn to Fashion TV. Our reception was bootlegged so I couldn’t see the images very clearly, just the outlines of the silhouettes. I would sit for hours staring at the vague images imagining the rest.

4.      Who is the most stylish woman you know?

My grandmother, back in the day her style of dressing was very opulent.

5.       What or who is your main source of inspiration when designing clothes?

On one hand there is my own closet, or more precisely – what lacks in it. I design for myself, following my own aesthetic and it is very flattering when other people respond positively to that. I go to my closet and decide what pieces I need to update my wardrobe and take it from there. On the other hand, there is the fashion blogging community that very much helps me mould my aesthetic by introducing me to new trends and styling directions.

6.      What one item should be in every woman’s closet?

A pair of flattering pants. Any woman knows that finding a pair that fits to perfection is not as simple as it sounds.

7.       What would be your dream career?

Owning my namesake fashion house and having the last word on all design and creative decisions.

8.      Who is your favourite designer?
It’s hard to pin-point one, but I would say Emanuel Ungaro, a true couturier who learned well from his master and succeeded in translating Balenciaga’s legacy to a modern generation.
9.      What trend do you love at the moment?
I love the tight, body-hugging bandage/elastic dresses Max Azria pushed in the last couple of seasons.

10.     Please share some of your tips on being stylish and elegant.

Know your body and what looks good on it. Dress for your body, don’t try to fit it into trendy items that do not compliment it.

Oh what a nice interview and great pick.
I know her blog (and she knows mine :) ) and I like it.

Thank you sweetie and lovely Mimi for your supportive comment.
I do yoga since last year. It was 3ª and 5ª for one hour, now it’s 2ª and 6ª for two hours. So things complicated a little, with less time….
I’m always without time, and I want to do so many things….

And I know what you mean, my sister is at TO and she feels the same about the sea. Sometimes she even goes near the Lake… ;)

    Lots of love

    xoxo

Woow, I have visited Vera’s blog several times, and have marvelled over how good she is at making clothes, but I never knew she was a fashion designer!
She looks really sweet in that little picture where you can see her face.
And she’s only 23! Wow! I like it that she lives in two places ;)
I can understand why her grandmother is her fashion role model. When I see pictures of my grandmother when she was young in the 50s, I wish she had kept her clothes for me to wear…
“Dress for your body” is good advice!
    Kisses and Hugs,
    Cate
