Fashion Idol of the Week- The Seeker
I am very happy to announce this week’s fashion idol- The Seeker. Yes, none of us know her real name but I’m sure she has her own reasons for not disclosing it, in which case I fully respect that wish. What’s in the name anyways? Do we really define ourselves by the name that we were given? The Seeker is one of the most stylish, intelligent, elegant women that I have ever met thus I was extremely excited when she agreed to do the feature with me.
This lovely woman can mix color like no other I know and she is so brave about it! She knows the secrets to being a true style icon: confidence, simplicity, and uniqueness. I visit her blog religiously to get inspired spiritually by all of those interesting poems/ stories she posts, as well as to get some styling ideas, just looking at her outfits makes me want to run to my closet and start experimenting.
Be sure to check out her wonderful blog Searching the Inner Me.

She is wearing :
- black oxford shoes – from mainland
- dark gray pants – unknown brand
- red and black plaid coat – Tally Weijl
- black belt (substituting the one of the coat) – Mango
- mustard turtleneck – Vero Moda
- pearl necklace – mainland store
- fringe brooch – Hubby’s gift
- black scarf – United Colours of Benetton
Here is the interview with The Seeker:
1. Name, age, location.
Well, most people in the blogosphere know me by my nickname “The Seeker” or just “Seeker”. Back in the 80′s I was just a young girl … I live on a beautiful Island somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
2. What do you do for a living?
My university degree is in the Social Sciences . I work at the Public Administration of the Archipelago as a senior civil servant. No matter what I actually do, I always have a point of view filled up with a social issue on any matters or items of daily life. Just like the saying goes: Once a social scientist, always a social scientist.
3. Your favorite decade in fashion?
The 50′s. That’s when the glamour has arrived.
4. Where do you draw your inspirations?
I think I can say everything and anything. The nature, for instance has great colour combos that get me inspired. I also, like to be aware of the trends and then make my own creations.
5. Favorite designers?
Just to name a few… Yves Saint Laurent- He was the first designer to mix black and blue as well as the first to mix red and pink! Dolce & Gabbana, who are always trying to bring back the Sicilian woman, lately also the British style and the ladylike woman. Dries Van Noten- for his ability to use extreme tones and different patterns in the same outfit or his talent of playing with the chromatic scale.
6. Favorite shopping destination?
Since I live on an island I try to visit the mainland at least once a year. When that happens I search for H&M, Zara, Mango, I also have found nice pieces from Vero Moda in addition to a new discovered designer Tally Weijl who has been a great surprise.
7. What current trend are you loving the most?
Oh, I can’t just talk about one… I’m loving plaid, faux fur, lace, coloured tights, multiple chains…
8. The style you most dislike?
The total head-to-toe designer look, I think it’s the opposite of fashion.
9. Favorite shoe designer?
Let’s see, shoes with the wow factor… Lanvin designer’s Alber Elbaz. He proposes an urban elegance where emotion and optimism encourage desire. He reconciles modernity and femininity. Through this collaboration, the Lanvin house rediscovered its original place amongst the major luxury fashion houses.
10. Three words to describe your overall sense of style?
I think my style has two keys: Colour and Accessories. I really like the idea of mixing and matching textures and/or looks as well as clashing colours. That’s what I’m trying to do with my outfits to evolve my style. Well my figure isn’t Most-Perfect, but I always try to achieve elegance.
Coco Chanel once stated:
Elegance is refusal. Refusal to follow others and aptitude to be yourself.
So, if we all can learn to know ourselves, we all can be elegant. But you asked me for three words… Hmmm…. Let’s just say: Irreverent, Urban, Chic.

Great pick Mimi! She looks fantastic! You can tell her style is authentic, and inspired by the true fashion icons of our time! Love how bold and brave she is when it comes to experimenting with colour! And her blog is also very inspirational and gives a bit of an insight into her soul… =)

You couldn’t have picked a more wonderful fashion idol. Seeker inspires me in so many ways. Every time I find myself afraid of colour I remember Seeker’s colour courage and I am then emboldened to add a little more hue into my life. Fantastic interview and great post!:-)
ahhh!! i ADORE her!!! she is the QUEEN of color!
I read some of the your fashion idols interviews before… but this was one of the best. Very in depth and makes you realize that the Seeker is really a fashion idol
Just delighted to see the Seeker highlighted here – what a wonderful pick for a fashion idol!
The Seeker is not only fashionable and individual; She is Organised!
She has very clear ideas of what trends to follow each season in the Mainland shopping expedition; and then augments each daily outfit to suit her moods. I imagine she brings a little lift to all her co-workers each day, who would look to see what the Lovely Seeker is wearing.
Thankyou for profiling one of my favourite thinking, challenging and fashionable bloggers.
xx

Yay, I already read this article yesterday when I stumbled upon it by a link from The Seeker’s page! She really deserves to be ‘Fashion Idol of the Week’!

And about the crush: If you sang those songs only when you were truly in LOVE, then that’s a good sign, isn’t it? I like to know that my crush might be true love! I’m in such a good mood!
