1.    Name, Location

Silje Pedersen, Norway

2.    What made you decide to start you own fashion blog?

I started my own fashion blog because I was reading a lot of American, French and British fashion blogs, but realized there were very few Norwegian ones. I also work as a fashion journalist and a stylist, so I found it a natural way of expressing myself and sharing all of my experiences and knowledge about fashion and shopping. Who ever knew it was going to give me opportunities I could only have dreamed of.

3. Please share some of your shopping secrets with La Mimi readers…

My shopping secrets…Let me see, I spend a lot of time on Ebay, which really is the best place to find amazing bargains. If you can not afford runway styles, I suggest you raid Ebay, your grandmas closet and vintage stores for those unique and special finds. I love flea markets as well, and will stop at nothing to get a good bargain. I like to blend vintage and high street for that unique look. I truly believe you should strive to love everything you buy. That way, you don’t end up with a lot of things you don’t want or need.

4.    What’s style for you?

Style is a blend of high fashion, street style, vintage, high street, art and so much more. Style is really in the eye of the beholder. It is really that versatility I love about fashion.
5. I know that you travel quite a lot. So I’m quite curious to find out where in the world you do most of your shopping?eiffel-tower-paris

I love to travel and experience new cultures. Just to travel to Paris, which is only two hours away, is like entering a different world of style, fashion and love. When I visit a new city I love to sit with a coffee and a fashion magazine, and look at the fashionable women in the street. I always get inspired! I must say that I shop the most when I visit US. I lived in California for four years (as a student) and know a lot of great stores to go to for the best bargains. In LA I always stop by Decades, Resurrection, American Vintage and Wasteland. Nordstroms, Forever21, Nine West and Steve Madden is also always worth a visit. In San Francisco I fell in love with the area called Haight-Asbury, because of all the wonderful vintage stores. I also always pick up some local jewelry when I am traveling. When I wear it at home, it always reminds me of that specific journey.

6. What’s in your make up bag?

In my makeup bag. I always carry a makeup bag in my purse, you never know what can happen. Maybe you get invited to a party or end up in a TV-Interview, so my go-to expression is: Always be prepared. I use a lot of MAC products and brushes, the pressed powder and eye shadows are my favorites. I love All that Glitters, Woodwinked and Espresso for a smokey eye. YSL touche eclat always saves the day, and I also carry 3-4 different lip glosses with me.

7. Who’s your fashion icon?

When it comes to Fashion Icons, its all about the good old girls. Debbie Harry, Bianca Jagger, Charlotte Gainsbourg were some stylish ladies in the 1970 and 80s. Of todays fashion vixens, I like Chloe Sevigny, Sarah Jessica Parker and Rachel Zoe. They are all strong women, doing their own thing, and that is inspirational. I also get so much inspiration from visiting my favorite blogs (like yours!), which is truly amazing.

8. What is your favorite beauty product(s)?

ysl-lipstickMy favorite products are Estee Lauder and OPI nail-polish, Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation, YSL lipstick, MAC eyeshadow and brushes, Biotherm bodylotion and so much more. I am a beauty junkie who always love to try out new products.

9. Have you ever had a fashion fiasco?

Have we not all had a fashion fiasco? I think my most memorable one was wearing the Buffalo shoes in the late 80s. Those horrible platform sneakers that were so in fashion, but now gives me the creeps. What gives me comfort is that so many others also made the same mistake..

10.  What are you looking forward to wearing the most this Spring and Summer ?

I cant wait for Spring to arrive! I am lusting for a vintage one shoulder dress, platform heels from Nine West and a Miu Miu or Marc Jacobs nude handbag. I always reward myself with a investment piece every season, and its usually shoes or handbag or sometimes both. I will be wearing mint and coral colors, a white over-sized Carolina Herrera blazer, studded heels and all my vintage dresses. What I always love the most about Spring is pull out all of my summer shoes (around 150 pairs), there is really nothing like it.
