Fashion Idol of the Week- Marielle

In Marielle’s world, any day could turn out to be a photo shoot. She has got to look effortlessly impeccable and stylish regardless of where she goes, even if it’s for a walk with her dog. After all, you never know when the paparazzi might strike you! This fierce fashionista has the looks, the brains and the talent of someone who will surely succeed in the fashion world.  Her blog is infused with lots of fun articles, creative styling ideas and stunning daily modeling shots. Marielle is brilliant at creating super glamorous outfits without breaking her bank account as well as proving that real style doesn’t have to cost big bucks. Even the cold Netherland winter weather cannot stop her from dressing up super elegant and glam! This is why she is this weeks fashion idol.

Want to know more about this fashion idol then head to over her incredibly chic blog- Too Sexy for My Shirt!

Marielle is wearing :

  • Fur vest by Zara
  • Floral rop by Steps (which is a Dutch store I think)
  • Lace tank top by H&M
  • Black wet-look leggings by New Yorker Fashion
  • Purple gladiator heels by Invito

Here is the interview with Marielle:

1. Name, age, location.

Mariëlle de Goede, 18, Apeldoorn, the Netherlands

2. What do you do for a living?

Nothing yet! I am still at high school, in my senior year. Next year I am taking a gap year and I am not sure yet what I am going to do after that. Perhaps study something in fashion?

3. Your favorite decade in fashion?

I really like the decade we are in at the moment to be honest! But if I had to pick another one I would go for the roaring twenties, when women broke out of the corset and started wearing sexy fringe dresses, pearl necklaces and feather accessories. Fashion became more free and was fresh, festive, elegant and feminine. Just the way it should be! And I also find photos of the Ballet Russes from the twenties to be very inspiring.

4. Where do you draw your inspirations?

I can be inspired by basically anything, but at the moment my no.1 source of inspiration are other bloggers. It is great to see how there are so many stylish girls from all over the world who are able to translate catwalk trends into their wardrobe just perfectly, yet all in their own way. It is the reason why I started my own blog: at a certain point I was so enthused and inspired by some of my favourite bloggers that I just wanted to be part of their inspirational world.

5. Favorite designers?

This might sound silly, but I do not really have one favourite designer since there is not one designer who amazes me every single season again. Though I have to say nine out of ten times I like Stella McCartney, Ellie Saab (but who would not kill for one of his dresses?), John Galliano (who I consider to be a creative genius) and Viktor & Rolf (most brilliant Dutch designers ever). But the best collection for this spring is by far the collection by Balmain.

6. Favorite shopping destination?

Big cities such as Amsterdam and London where you can find clothes that are so much more creative and unconventional than everything that is sold in the area where I live. Hopefully I will be able to move to one of those cities in the future, I think that would make my style undergo quite a bit of a change.

7. What current trend are you loving the most?

Big faux fur vests! It is very cold in the Netherlands at the moment, so fur vests are not only very fashionable but also very practical. It is almost too cold to leave the house without one.

8. The style you most dislike?

I truly hate shoes which are purely worn for comfort and which make your feet look three sizes bigger, such as crocs. Ugh. They are hideous. I would not want to be found dead in them.

9. Favorite shoe designer?

Nicholas Kirkwood. His architectural footwear is pure art.

10. Three words to describe your overall sense of style?

Creative. Daring. Sophisticated.

She’s a sweetie and reminds me of a mix between Reese Witherspoon and Jennie Garth. Nice pick.

I too prefer the great outdoors for photos, but sometimes things get in the way of that (rain, hot weather, no photographer…) but I recently got a Tripod, so we’ll see. =]

    Thanks, Mimi, bella! <3
