Fashion Idol of the Week-Marcella
This week’s fashion idol is Marcella hailing all the way from New Zealand. The moment I started following Marcella’s blog, I knew I was hooked. It’s super addicting oozing individuality, talent and lots of inspirational outfits. Think a t-shirt + shorts combo is bland? Well you haven’t seen anything till you’ve seen her donning them. Below is a small glimpse of Marcella’s world…

the Interview
1. Name , Age, Location
Marcella, 20, New Zealand
2. Based on the name of your blog, would you say Fashion is just a mere distraction from your daily routine or does it play a more significant role in your life?
To me, fashion is just one of the small joys of life. Getting dressed for the day is always a pleasure, and I find I gravitate towards all things fashion as a way of distracting myself, whether it’s shopping, browsing through style websites or just observing what people are wearing!
3. Your make up skills are phenomenal. If you could share any beauty secret, what would it be?
I’m one of those people that break all the rules – I stay up late and don’t get enough sleep, I don’t drink enough water or eat very healthy at all so I’m probably a terrible choice to go to for beauty advice! But if there’s anything I find important, it’s to have well defined and groomed eyebrows. They frame your face and if you just fill them in with a brow pencil, you can get away with minimal makeup and still look polished.
4. Where do you get your inspiration to keep blogging?
Many things, a fine sunny day, a wicked editorial in a magazine, a new pair of shoes, seeing a great post from a fellow blogger – all things that inspire me!
5. You tend to find some of your treasures in vintage shops. What would you say was your best/most favourite purchase that you found there.
Definitely my grey oversized blazer, it’s incredibly versatile.
6. What’s your top dream purchase for Summer 2009?
Sadly, summer’s already been and gone here in New Zealand and we are well into winter now, so one thing I’m hunting for at the moment is a pair of patent leather boots, preferably with some sort of platform or wedge but still comfortable to trot around in!
7. You quote Mark Twain on your blog “Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.”
How do you hope to influence society with your style?
Nothing profound really, but I hope I make the day a little bit more interesting for those who are into fashion and the blogging thing when they see me on the street!
8. I love the Balmain inspired DIY you’ve done on a military vest. How many compliments (aka girls
None! I actually haven’t even finished it yet so it’s safely tucked away in my wardrobe for now….
9. I’m a big fan of your shoe collection. How many pairs exactly do you have? And what’s the most you’ve spent on a pair?
Off the top of my head, I can count about 15 pairs that I currently rotate between wearing. I have A LOT of old shoes which I don’t wear anymore too (mostly because I don’t consider the heel high enough!) so I should probably take them to a thrift shop or donate them. The most I’ve spent is on one of my favourite pairs, close to $300 (but shhhh don’t tell my boyfriend that!).
10. And finally, share some words of wisdom with La Mimi readers please…
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
