Fashion Idol of the week- Extra Skinny
This week’s fashion idol is Stefanie, whose love for fashion has evolved into a blog. The moment I started following Stefanie’s blog I got addicted. Although she might be new to the blogosphere, she has already gained a mass following her very unique approach to style. Her posts are sweet, short and damn hot! I’m always impressed and inspired by the outfits she manages to put together, using basics such a white t or a black pencil skirt in a new unconventionalway. Oh, and the poses that she strikes, oh Lord! They are no worse than those in editorial fashion magazines. Take a look at what she had to say and then head on over to her lovely blog- Extra Skinny.

In the photos XS is wearing:
Nuj (New): Nuj Novakhett dress, Rose Chase Me vest, Wolford moulin rouge tights, Hugo Boss boots
Black and Blue: sofake wefail secretary button down, Land’s End pleated skirt, Vivienne Westwood wizard coat, Hugo Boss booties
Nicholas K: Hugo Boss dress, Nicholas K Porter zip cardigan, LD Tuttle Shifter Dust boots
Opening Ceremony: Opening Ceremony voluminous dress, Camper wedges
Plaid: Marc by Marc Jacobs blouse, vintage plaid skirt, Wolford moulin rouge tights, Hugo Boss boots
1. Name, Age, Location
xs, 8 months, SoCal
2. I’m curious to know, why did you name your blog – “extra skinny”?
As a FIDM project, I created a store and designed its window/store front. That store was named Skinny, taken from “the skinny.” My projects are rather close to my heart (blood, sweat, et al) so I incorporated it into my blog namesake and ended up with Extra Skinny. I also thought it would be easy to remember.
3. You are great in front of the camera and always come up with such amazing, editorial poses. Have you ever thought of modelling professionally?
Ha, ha. I would looove to be a model, free clothes and phone throwing perks included, but I’ve never considered taking it beyond the blogging level. Posing in my back patio is fun though!
4. We have to give some credit to the photographer who takes your daily outfit photos. And that would be…
That would be Moustache Man, my boyfriend. He actually kickstarted Extra Skinny by convincing me to join the bloggosphere.
5. What are some of your shopping secrets?
Go online! I’ve gone to the dark webside and can no longer shop in stores. But if you are out and about, I’d suggest taking a fashionable (and honest) friend to check/veto your purchases.
6. I know you are an aspiring fashion stylist. Could you tell us more about why you’ve decided to become a fashion stylist and how you are attaining that goal at the moment?
Acually, I haven’t decided to be a fashion stylist. I am interested in many aspects of fashion, which is why I am exploring my options in the industry. Currently, I am interning under a handbag designer and learning about design, production and manufacturing.
7. Who or what inspires your style?
I’ve never been one to idolize big fashion players. They have great style because they can afford it and are in the frontlines of trends and new product. I think most of my influence comes from designers who I respect (Victoria Bartlett, Rachel Comey, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim), as well as, streetwalkers. Moustache Man also deserves a lot of credit. He has found many a fantastic item that has become a staple in my wardrobe.
8. What are you planning on wearing this summer? Any staples you plan on putting into constant rotation?
Dresses and sandals! I might throw in a skirt and tank ensemble. I’ve always had a girly streak.
9. Please share some tips with La Mimi readers on being stylish, sustainably.
I try to buy smart pieces that will be worn to shreds. If something doesn’t work out, I rework/sell/donate it.
10. Any words of wisdom for La Mimi readers.
I don’t ignore trends, but I also don’t live by them. I think it’s more important that what you wear makes you feel good. Capeesh?

She is not only beautiful and talented, but also intelligent and funny. I love how she answered the last interview question

i know it well!
thanks for the lovely comment. my hair is far far too long really, due to uni pressures and the fact that i’m precocious and refuse to get it cut anywhere except the london salon i’ve frequented since year dot. it’s not going anywhere til after diss / exams. i do like it long, but it def needs relayering… thank gawd its healthy -i couldn’t deal with split ends! put it down to no straightening and barely any blowdrying. i’m too lazy lol.
i should be working. sigh.
