Fashion Idol of the Week- Coco
This week’s fashion idol is Coco- style savvy gal hailing all the way from Vancouver. When I first discovered Coco, it was the name of her blog that caught my attention “Closet full of nothing”. After all, don’t we all say that? But let me tell you, Coco’s closet if full of everything, but nothing! From exquisite designer pieces to great mainstream finds Coco not only knows how to shop, but knows how to shop well, purchasing clothes and accessories that are fresh and edgy, complementing and enhancing her natural beauty. However, once the purchases settle in Coco’s closet the challenge begins- One women’s struggle at shopping in her own closet. I’m sure we can all relate to that. La Mimi: What’s Fashion for you?
Coco: Fashion is self-expression. It’s fun. It’s my creative outlet.
La Mimi: What did you wear when you were in high school?
Coco: Oh boy, high school was a long time ago! I was always a simple jeans and top girl. I remember purchasing my first pair of miss sixty jeans – they were loved and worn to pieces. They’re still sitting somewhere in my closet as I’m hoping to turn them into shorts someday!
La Mimi: What’s your favorite place to search for inspiration?
Coco: Various Fashion blogs, runway, magazines etc. But the best is just sitting at an outdoor coffee shop for street fashion inspiration – I love people watching on a busy day!
La Mimi: Why do you think us, women so often experience the “ I have nothing to wear” syndrome?
Coco: The eyes and the mind are never satisfied! There will always be things we covet. I’ve been working at controlling my urges to shop and digging deeper into my closet instead!
La Mimi: What do you build your daily look around?
Coco: Something that works for my body-type. I love trying new things and different looks but I always make it work for me. I have to feel comfortable and confident in it. If not, then I know it’s not for me.
La Mimi: What’s your favourite shopping destination?
Coco: Everywhere! I’m not biased when it comes to shopping – I’ll look at everything. Although, I have to confess to being a frequent visitor at stores like H&M and Zara.
La Mimi: What’s your next “must buy” purchase?
Coco: Another classic bag in grey. I find myself looking for grey accessories all the time, yet I don’t own any!
La Mimi: What do you prefer more- flats or heels?
Coco: I’m completely torn on this. I love being comfy, but being a 5’5 and average build I need that extra height. I love what heels provide for my proportion!

Coco: Inspiration is all around! You just have to keep your eyes and mind open.
