Fashion Idol of the Week- Carolina

Fashion Idol of the Week- Carolina

In the search for the next fashion idol I’ve stumbled across Carolina- a natural beauty with gorgeous long hair, rocking body and an effortless style- I just had to share her with my lovely readers.  Her simple yet intriguing outfits and poses resemble those from editorial spreads; however having a career in fashion is not part of the plan for Carolina. She happens to be working really hard towards another dream of hers and uses fashion as a form of expression and escape from the daily routine.  Take a look at what she had to say and then skip on over to her lovely blog, The Clothist.

2.Describe your style

I would say my style is a mix of styles, thus it’s hard for me to just fit it into a category. When I asked my sister about this question she said: “ You dress just like you want, sometimes very Gothic with black boots and a leather jacket, other times like a doll with flat ballerinas and braids, or like a “chic lady” and she is probably right. I think what I do is put together a mix of colours textures, styles, cultures. There are actually no rules! I try to buy clothes that fit me well, because I always do the mistake of buying everything I fall in love with; however I think that some clothes are proper for only certain body types. I follow the trends but  ignore the ones that  don’t work for me.
I love skinny jeans, short dresses, military boots, hats, heels ,diy shorts,  beauty, simplicity and white!

3. Favourite fashion magazine?

I don’t have much time to read magazines to be honest. In a way visiting and reading blogs have become my daily magazines. Sometimes I buy Elle ,Vogue or N style or more frequently Happy woman, that always comes with funny articles, good suggestions of restaurants and a lot of discounts in spas and some Portuguese stores . I never knew about online magazines, but I’m loving it, it’s very practical and cheap!

4.       You dream career?

My dream career is being a doctor; I’m actually working hard to pass all my medical admission exams, so I don’t have much time to blog as much as I’d love to. In Portugal the system is very tough so I have to work really hard. I never thought about doing something related to fashion, because fashion for me is like an escape, a way to relax, to express myself, to feel good ,to be creative but as a career I have other plans and a long way to go.
5.What was your last fashion related purchase?

My latest fashion purchases were a long white beautiful dress, and huge brown sandals, both perfect for summer nights. I got them in Lanidor, a very successful Portuguese brand that brings the hottest heels from Brazil, with a great quality of materials used to make their accessories and clothes. I lost my head with these two purchases in two days, and practically couldn’t sleep until I got my hands on them! Thankfully, I got really lucky with the mother’s day discount!!

I think it’s great for you to ind and share interesting people, and share a part of their lives through these interviews.

It reiterates; everyone has a story to tell…

Mimi, I also recieved your email, your blog has innovation and a sense of connect and relationship with readers at the center of it..and the fact that you make sure that factor remains consistent in every aspect of this blog is very sweet and refreshing.
I seriously didn’t expect an email as a reply to a comment, but think this is exactly the sort of thing that makes this blog more than a blog. I think you can never have enough interesting people surrounding you in life, so I will reply as soon as I get a chance :) ) infact it occured to me, as I began to read this blog increasingly, that I’d like to contact you sometime and get to know you…so I’ll do just that :)

    Take Care for now,
    speak soon,
    Kaya

WOW, what a wonderfully sincere and flattering message Kaya left behind! It must be an amazing feeling to be recognized for your hard work and efforts at making sure your blog and your relationship with your readers is always at its best!

Back to today’s post however… Carolina is truly a beauty and I ADORE her style… It’s totally me, and I’d rock all of the outfits she’s wearing in the photos above… On top of being so creative and down to earth, she’s obviously smart and caring if she’s chosen one of the hardest career paths in life… Good for her, and thank you for continuing to share these wonderful people with all of us! =) You’re the best!
