Vodka Tasting Adventure
Today’s post is a bit different, but I figured I’d throw in a bit of personal adventures once in a while. I was recently invited to a vodka tasting event by Matchstick (marketing company) being hosted by Ketel One vodka. At first I was hesitant as I’m not a big drinker and my blog has nothing to do with alcohol. However, I rarely refuse an opportunity to dress up glam and head downtown. So, my boyfriend and I headed to this fabulous event being held at the private members Spoke Club in downtown Toronto.
We arrived fashionably late and quickly proceeded upstairs through the stylish club where the vodka tasting would take place. My boyfriend ordered a martini (shaken not stirred) as he recently watched the James Bond movie and I got a Cosmo (of course, do I really need to tell you why?), as we waited for the presentation to begin.
As the presentation started our vodka ambassador explained how the vodka is made and where it comes from. I was quite shocked to learn some stuff, never realized how much work goes into making a bottle of vodka. At first I was a bit skeptical about the Ketel One vodka as I’ve never heard of it and assumed it is just another vodka, how do you tell the difference anyways?
Well…our vodka ambassador showed us and made us smell and taste the difference. In front of me were three shot glasses- Ketel One on the left, Grey Goose in the middle, and Absolut on the right. They were all at room temperature, since that’s the best temperature that allows you to actually taste the difference.
To be honest, Grey Goose and Absolut are usually my vodkas of choice for parties or whenever we order bottle service at a club and I thought that Ketel One had no chance against these two heavy weights of vodka brands. But that was before the tasting…
Then the vodka tasting began. We first tasted the Ketel One vodka followed by Grey Goose and Absolut was last. I was shocked! Ketel One was actually smoother than Grey Goose. I don’t even want to talk about Absolut as it tasted very harsh after the first two. So, although I’m not a big drinker I conclude that Ketel One is officially my favorite vodka! They served some appetizers and we met an interesting couple, one of them also a blogger for BlogTO (Popular Toronto blog). All in all, if you ever get invited to a vodka tasting, definitely go! It’s a fun experience, good networking place and the best part is the gift bag that you are given at the end!
Hope you enjoyed my story; please leave your comments, as I absolutely love to read them! Muah!

haha! Love the story! How come I never get invited to places like these?
Mimi don’t get involved with vodka – leave for James Bond
never heard of Ketel One. I have to try it.
You know, I’ve heard of that brand before, and have seen the bottle for sure…but can’t recall when or where… I’ll have to give it a try now that I have your approval stamp on it! Nice outfit by the way! Love that royal blue on you =)

Hi Solomon- Definitely give it a try!
Hi Leyla!- It’s actually sold at LCBO in Canada, and I’ve heard it’s quiete popular in the States. Thank you for the compliment hun

Cute dress!
Sounds like that was fun! Super cute dress. I like Ketel too. It isn’t my first choice but I definitely drink it. Absolut is just way too strong if you know what I mean, not smooth at all.
p.s. finally got around to updating my blogroll and added you Mimi.
Have an awesome weekend!
Too fun!!!
