Trend Alert: Sheer Clothing

Transparent clothing is one of the sexiest trends this spring and summer!  Sheer clothing has crept onto the catwalk the past several seasons and is now hitting the mainstream.  Designer Gods such as Roberto Cavalli ,  John Galliano, Yves Saint Laurent and others have created some breathtaking clothing with sheer fabrics in multitude of ways such as tight sheer pieces, layers and draping. Although most of those clothes don’t leave much to the imagination, they can still be worn in an elegant manner thus looking super sensual and feminine.  One thing to remember though is a well fitted bra!
Just take a look at some of these fabulous creations for Spring 2009

Will you be wearing sheer this Spring? I know I will!  I like wearing a sheer top under an oversized blazer with a pair of skinny jeans and stilettos.  How will you be wearing you sheer pieces?

I love the combination of silk & sheer! I saw a gorgeous top at Marciano today and noticed the sheer cutouts! Thanks for the heads up about it being the new trend! I like your idea of how to wear it, because it’s less revealing, thus sexy in an elegant way! I’ll have to try it! I think, it would also look nice, if the sheer part was on the back of a dress or an evening top =)

    Hey dear!
Yes, I am wearing a sheer shirt right now in fact! Maybe it’s a bit “much” for school, but I’m wearing a scarf with it, so you can’t see the bra or anything, and I think sheer can look really classy if you pair it with dark colours or something.. I also think that white and cotton are the best colour and fabric for sheer clothes. Now, as you said, the trend has been around for some time, so we had time to get used to it, and I think it needn’t look trashy! Your idea to wear a sheer shirt with an oversized blazer and skinny trousers sounds awesome! Will you post some outfit pictures, maybe?
    Lots of Love,

Ooh this reminds me–I bought a sheer black cotton blouse with a high lacy collar when I was in London–very Victorian except for the sexiness of the sheer material. I prefer wearing a beige/nude cami underneath. Uniqlo makes a fantastic heat tech cami that’s thin enough for that sort of layering.

It seems like Designers can not get enough of sheer! I am loving that collage, it really shows how much on the radar sheer is.

Yeah, I totally agree, but the actuall trend started a really long time ago, if you haven’t noticed, the first time I saw it was probably Shape Magazine, like May of last year, that’s when the experts started predicting this as a style.
