Trend Alert: Color Clashing

Trend Alert: Color Clashing

Whoever said we have to have rules for everything? Whether in life or fashion, I believe rules are made to be broken.

I always hear people say that you can’t mix certain colors such as black and brown, orange and pink or that your shoes always have to match your belt and your belt has to match your bag.  BORING!  I say, get out of the box and do whatever feels right for you.

This Spring break free of all the rules and go a little crazy with colors! Try new combinations and variations of hues that you wouldn’t normally put together. Confidence is always the key, so if you don’t feel comfortable take it off. Coco Chanel once said that “the best color in the world is the one that looks good on you.”  So, play around with the colors until it feels right.

Some of my favorite color combos are:  blue/ red/white/ gold    OR     indigo/ fuschia /yellow/silver.

In the meantime get inspired by these Spring 09 runway looks  created by brave and talented fashion designers who are not afraid to play with a bit of color.

Mimi you are so sweet. I think you must be one of the kindest person aound on the blogosphere. Your comments are always so lovely and relevant to each person.

I gush now because it is so true :)

I agree, one shouldn’t feel contrived when dealing with expressions of style. Any colour goes i say! The repetitive use of pastels is super alluring. And with Wang adding that block of black it is just magical.

I hope your weekend goes well dearie.

    Hi La Mimi,

U are so really nice, thank U very much Ur lovely comment… :*

Neccessary it is to break the rules in the fashion. this will be exciting and unique. I observe it and not too. Let the experimentation live. I adore the vibrant colours. I am brave and I am wearing it in winter. Mostly fuchsia. The purple one and the orange are strange but so much great combinations. Coco Chanel the largest expert.

    Have a great Friday: Janet

Well… you know me dear ;)
I’m for colour clash and you know I’m brave enough to wear it. That orange and purple and violet and maybe gray are mixing wth me…
But smetimes is good to know that if you want to be matchy no one would say “You’re too matchy matchy”, like I was told one day, and I had black/red/cobalt blue. Yes, this was something I never forgot, because I said if I’m matchy matchy how should I dress not to be????

Well dearest, I’ve not done my nails yet :( :( :(

Hope you’ll have a blast of a weekend.

    xoxo

Oh i am a queen of mixing. I don’t care what ppl think of me or my style. I dress the way i like and i mix colours they way i like.
Matching shoes with bag is so overrated it’s indeed very boring :) ))
Gotta look natural and not like u spent 3 h trying to match shoes and with your bag and little ear rings :)
    Props for the post !

I love that you made a post on this trend, daring people to be free to experiment. Every colour looks different on everyone, based on the skin colour and complexion, so it comes down to experimenting with colours and being bold. I agree with you completely – you have to be comfortable wearing something, because when you comfortable, you gain confidence and in turn you feel good & therefore look good as well! Love this post – because it’s encouraging to everyone to push the boundaries & live on the edge! =)

Yes! I am all about the color clashing, I love putting things together that don’t usually “go”… my favorite lately has been mixing reds and pinks! Clashing is fun.

I’m loving the Chloe look for spring. I like outfits that have opposing proportions: huge shorts with a skin tight top.
