Thigh High Boots – Trend Alert

They are fierce, sexy and kind of dangerous. What am I talking about? Thigh high boots!

One of the most obvious trends on the Fall/Winter 09 runways were thigh high boots, also known as over the knee boots, that were featured by many designers such as Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton Dsquared, Reberto Cavalli, etc. Thigh high boots make a comeback every year but I predict this year the trend is going to be HUGE! Mark my words…
It’s obvious that thigh high boots are not for everyone. If you think it doesn’t flatter you in any way, don’t do it- that’s my personal rule.

Here are some tips for those of you that will be tempted to try this risqué trend:
1.    Don’t ever pair your leather thigh high boots with anything else leather.
2.    There are many different ways to wear thigh high boots. Some of my favourite are: over skinny jeans, with flowy top and shorts or short dress/ skirt or with oversized sweater.
3.    Steer away from patent leather , and instead opt for suede or vintage looking leather.
4.    Minimize accessories and make up, as your boots will make enough of a statement.

I’ve never owned a pair, but have tried one on last winter, and was quite tempted to get them… I guess I won’t be able to resist the urge this Fall / Winter season!! My fave from the collage is Mark Nason’s, they’re kinda cowboy boot inspired, but a lot more edgier, which is awesome!!

I got your question on La Mimi, about thigh high boots….They are actually very versatile. You can wear them with a mini dress, mini skirt, oversized sweater, shorts, oversized button down –cinch the waist with a belt.
