Trend: Crop Tops

Trend: Crop Tops

The signs of this 90’s inspired trend were all over runways and editorials. It’s only a matter of time now until it hits the mainstream.

Now I don’t know about you ladies but I think I’ve had a share of this trend when I was younger. Crop tops were the hottest thing when I was about 10. I wore the belly-baring garments a lot and just about everywhere. But what did I really know back then?

On the other hand, I never thought I’d wear skinny jeans again, and here I am now with about umm…at least 8 pairs in my closet.  I have to admit though, the crop tops do look sort of tempting if worn tastefully and properly: For example with an oversized blazer and skinny jeans or high waisted pants or capris for minimum skin exposure.

The problem with this trend is that it ends up looking unflattering more often than not…

So, as of right now I’m undecided whether I’ll try again it or not. (probably would…haha)

How about you ladies, will you give this trend another chance?

Ah! I too remember crops in the 90s… I had yellow ribbed ones from tammy girl. Not sure if I’m going to venture that way this time… Maybe layered over longer vests?

You would look gorgeous in crop tops.
I think it’s a tricky trend and it’s not for any enviroment. (But it’s better than the low waist pants…)
I think that girls that have a flat stomach can wear it, the way you proposed or at the beach with no blazer.
I might give it a try on vacations on the beach, since I’m a flat stomach ;)

    Much Love

I’m perfectly ok with cropped cardigans and little bolero jackets, but I think I’ll pass on the cropped tops. Not only are they unsuitable for my work environment, my stomach isn’t as firm as it was 10 years ago!

Yes, I agree this one is a tricky trend for sure. For example, sometimes it might be mistakenly worn by women with less than appropriate body types and will abuse the beauty and sex appeal of the look. However, personally, I like and would probably try out the Kain Label and Elizabeth & James type of looks, where it’s a little longer and flowy – I don’t exactly like the H&M type look, I’d leave that one out to tall, blond models ;)

Oh yes, I remember these very well!
I don’t think I will be sporting them this summer but I do think they look fun and sexy on younger, fit gals.
    Have a fabulous weekend Mimi!

Oh yeah! I will definitely nale it as soon as I manage to get my six pack exercises done ;) Being teamed with high waisted trousers for minimum flesh exposure, it will look less hideous. I think it is so sexy without trying really hard, and with the combination of a beautiful jean it will rock!
    You go girl!!!
    XOXO

I’ve also seen this trend floating around. I wish I were confident to pull them off but it seems to be a trend that i cannot indulge in :( Actually strike that! It’ll be my next quest haha

Sorry for ramble. You’d look lovely in them though methinks. Have you tried a pair out yourself?

    Wishing you welllllllll.
