Popular Fall/Winter Colors
It’s hard to believe that fall is fast approaching and summer is nothing but history.
As I was walking through a park a couple of days ago, I suddenly gasped- “the trees are already turning autumn colors!” It’s a bit too early I think, but quite honestly I don’t mind, because fall is a beautiful, romantic season that is full of inspirational moments.
Some of other reasons I like fall include: Fashion Weeks around the world, fall fashion-layered looks, oversized scarves, trench coats, printed umbrellas and of course dressing up in fall colors.
Let’s take a look at some of the most popular colors for Fall/Winter 2009.
All Black
All black looks are HUGE for this fall, which is good and bad news. Good- because black is a very flattering color that will insure you look longer and leaner. Bad- because your outfit might end up looking plain boring unless you add some statement accessories.
Grey is the new black?
Although black color rules for fall, grey is not that far behind it. Many designers overused rather depressing grey for their fall/winter collections. I personally believe all grey look is way too dull and bland, so if I were to try it I’d make sure to add a pop of color in the form of a bright scarf or tank top, etc.
Lady in Red
Since Red is my favourite color I was ecstatic about its popularity on the fall runways. Red is definitely a show stopper so I would recommend to minimize accessories and make when trying this trend out.
Monochrome
We always see a lot of monochrome on the runways and fall 2009 was no exception. Elegant and classy – this is an utterly timeless look that portrays confidence and sophistication.

Hehe I kind of like all-gray looks! Dove gray seems so soft, cozy, and luxurious in a way gray could never be. As for all-black looks, I think different textures in a black ensemble (lace, satin, leather, denim) can create visual richness and alleviate the “all black is boring” effect.

WOW Awesome! I’m loving all of these colors & combinations. I agree with you about the all grey look, I would also add a pop of color somewhere for contrast & visual interest. Although, I’ve never been a fan of black, for some reason I found myself gravitating towards black pieces recently… Great to know that it is actually in! And red.. well of course I am very happy about that also. Yay, I need to go shopping! =)
