Harem Pants- Fashion Do or Fashion Crime?

Harem Pants- Fashion Do or Fashion Crime?

We can’t ignore this trend any longer. Harem pants are here and it looks like they are here to stay.  Every year designers come up with some outrageous clothes that might look amazing on 6 feet models but shouldn’t even be attempted by the regular gals due to visual body disproportion that those clothes create.  Harem pants are a great example of that! Personally, I wouldn’t even dream of wearing the harem pants, as it would look utterly ridiculous on my 5’5 frame.  Plus, it reminds me too much of Mc Hammer pants…haha
Surprisingly, the trend has somehow transferred from the catwalks to real life and is being sported all over Europe by brave fashionistas.

What are your thoughts on harem pants? Would you give it a shot?

OMG, fashion crime! Just. Plain. Wrong. From behind they look like the wearer has a diaper on!

Harem pants are a trend that should just GO AWAY, they are horrid and unflattering.

Fashion Crime only when worn wrong. I won’t attempt it, too risky for me. But I’m impressed whenever someone can nail it! =]

I was given the Mask by a costume shoppe. No snow for us, DO I WISH!! Only 30ºF so far loads of wind, no snow, though.. :/

    Moon River soothes me…. xx

No way! This trend is ridiculous and while some European fashionistas decide to take the plunge, I will be staying far, far away from these pants!

OMG… Certainly a crime in my books – simply because they are so unflattering… Even on models, yes it looks better but it does not compliment any body shape. Especially from the back – it just looks ridiculous!

    Crime!
They look bad! From the back and from the front..this is just wrong on so many levels!

They look great on models but come on, we don’t all have legs that cover about 2/3 of our height!

    Thanks!!;)
Girl…I’m 5’8 and still can’t wear them!! Have you seen how horrible the back looks like?? That’s definitely a trend I’m not gonna follow…I just don’t get why some trends are ment to hide all beautiful women’s shape…

I haven’t even attempted to try these on yet, I think I’d rather go for a tapered or peg leg shape.

  • janet said:

fashion crime! it does not look flattering at all, especially from behind!

  • tereza said:

I think this is not fashion crime, but I am not sure I would wear it. maybe just to the gym class in my school or on the beach or something. Never to the city, they just doesn´t seem right with the shape, they detroy a beauty of women body.

i dont know.. on some it works. but often its just too much..

I like them a lot! It all depends on the specific style one chooses: I think the ones that are not tight at the knees and below – would be more flattering on regular girls.. Ooh, I wonder if they have them in denim! As long as they look less drippy – I think they’re nice!

i think the ones shown above dont look too good, but some shops are selling harem pans that look great, but depends how you weare them. i bought some yesterday and the middle area doesnt hang as low as those pictured above and they look great. i think it depends on how you wear them and whether you have the confidence to carry it off.
i think the ralph lauren ones look great but i think the chloe one isnt too good, but i think the same about any metallic clothing.

Ok. These newer styles of harem pants you see on the runway, with the crotch seam at the knees…soooo unflattering. I just purchased a pair of traditional harem pants from india with a smocked waist and a crotch that sits almost level with the ankle (think princess Jasmine from Aladdin). I am tall (5’9”) and thin, and also a little more bohemian than most. I like looser, more “hippie-ish” clothes. The pants I bought are very versatile and can be worn as pants, a jumper, or a skirt. The runway version of the harem pant just hides a womens curves, while the pants I bought skim over your hips, and the smocked waist definitely gives you that hourglass look. I love love love the ones I have, but would for sure not ever attempt the ones straight from the runway.

I was just in Europe and saw this on countless attractive women… just godawful. My girlfriend and I deemed them poopypants. Why ladies, why?!
