Fur- Keeps you Warm and Stylish!
Fur is the ultimate accessory this winter! So timeless and chic, it really is a must have in every women’s wardrobe to add a touch of luxury and glamour whenever you need to.
Ever since I had become a vegetarian (it’s been about 4 years now), I have been torn as to whether I should stop wearing leather and fur. So far the battle within me continues, the furs and leathers still remain in my closet. Whether I want it or not, I end up working with those materials, so I guess I do not want to become a hypocrite, therefore I keep wearing them. Yes, maybe it is just an excuse. He-he…The thing is , I really love quality garments, therefore I always promote authentic everything, but again that’s just me.
Love it or hate it fur has been BIG NEWS on fall /winter 08 catwalks. Fur coat ( faux or real) makes a great alternative to the winter coat. Other amazing pieces to own is a fur vest, scarf, hat, etc. I have some fur accessories such as scarves but I’m still looking for that perfect vest. It’s so versatile: wear it over a plain T with skinny jeans, knee high boots, finish it off with a chunky knit scarf and you are set! That’s what I call effortless style.
So what do you think about wearing fur ? Do you wear real or faux? If you are against real fur and you only wear faux, do you also only wear faux leather? No judgment! I’m just curious to know!
I would love for all of you to share your opinions on this subject!

Hi LaMimi-oh my gosh, I was just about to do my new post, when I thought I’d leave a comment for you as you’d left such a lovely one, and I’m just going to post on my new purchase this week! Its my first real fur, as I have 3 faux furs already plus leather jackets too. I love my new purchase and justify it by it being vintage, pre owned and such a good deal to buy from the Charity shop!! I’m pleased I know someone now who is the same frame of mind as me about it!! Have a lovely weekend my dear!
Hi LaMimi! Well, I think fur is awesome too and I don’t have a problem wearing it, even though I like animals. I couldn’t be a vegetarian either
The combo you described with the fur vest would look sooo good! I want one!
Gucci is awesome & you’re so beautiful!
Thanks for the lovely comment & support! Fortunately I could sleep in today & tomorrow…
Not sure how I feel about. I don’t currently own a fur anything, but I do wear leather. So, I guess that’s the same as wearing fur, in terms of how far I would go for fashion. Love your pictures! Cute outfit.
How interesting Mimi, I’m also a vegetarian and I sometimes see myself with some fights inner me about animal skin. Furthermore I’m vegetarian with a philosophy of life…
But I love fur…. I’m into the fur trend very much. Today I wore a faux fur vest.
Of course what I buy now is faux fur, because there are some great faux furs that almost seem real. Also try to wear faux leather.
But I’m not fundamentalist, what I’m against is the way animals are treated and what they do with them and the way they suffer just to take their skin. Vintage fur is something that don’t shock me because it wasn’t that massive killing. Also we have to see the conditions, for instance at Alaska people need to be warm, so they had no other solution than kill animals to dress, but they also ate their meat. It wasn’t such an umproposed thing.
I’m sorry for the long comment, my dear.
And OMG you look gorgeous!!!!
Have I told you yet that you’re a beautiful girl, also so stylish and lovely?
Hope you’re having a great weekend.
xoxo
I don’t wear fur, or leather, but if I did, it would be 100% real, real FAUX! of course, I wear jeans and hoodies, hehe. pictures are amazing thought, and fur is so warm.
I love pic number 6
I’ll only buy vintage furs …I mean, by that point, it’s recycling! But some places are so cold you need fur to keep you warm. It’s a necessity …but not in LA. lol. Great look!
It’s hard for me come up with an answer that I would be happy with. I love animals, probably more than humans sometimes, simply because they are so helpless against humans, and they’re so trusting as well. So when I go into depth and think about all the animal voilence it just breaks my heart and hurts me to a degree of rage that I don’t like…Having said all this I do own a few fur scarfs and a leather jacket so in the end I am basically a hypacrite…
Hi Sharon Rose!- Thank you for such a sweet comment!
I’ll check out your blog to see your new purchase!
Hi Cate!- I’m glad you got to sleep in at least on the weekend!
Thank you for such a lovely comment!
It’s nice to have a new regular visitor
Muah!
Hi The Seeker- Hi darling! I love getting your comments…hehe…Please, feel free to make that as long as you wish:)
It’s nice to meet another vegetarian, becuase I only personally know a few, expcept myself. It is definitely difficult to part with good quality leather or real fur products, but if I start thinking how those animals had to suffer, my heart just breaks…So yet again…I’m torn…lol
Hey Franco!- Well…I applaued you for not wearing fur or leather…Hopefully one day I will also be ready to part with them…
Hi Maegan!- Thank you for stopping by!
I saw that post of you in a vintage fur! It was absolutely gorgeous!
Hi Leyla!- Darling, I feel just like you. I’m a member of Peta, so technically I should not advertise fur in no way or form, Yet I WEAR IT…and I still eat sea food, so maybe when I’m ready to say bye to that I will also stop wearing fur and leather. Who knows…
Mimi,
You look fabulous! Great outfit.
xoxo,
Katee

Hey Katee!

Hi Melmo!- Thank you for stopping by!
Hi Susanna-Cole!- No problem darling. The minute I read your post I had an urge to share my experience with you…Perhaps it will answer some of your questions…I wish you all the best and I’m more than sure you will do just fine
Hi Mimi-
I agree…fur is the ultimate accessory this winter! And I have to admit I wear REAL FURS. Sometimes I wear faux fur too, but there’s just something about a luxurious, quality real fur. I just bought this vintage two-toned mink 3/4 vest from http://www.cowitfurs.com. And yes, I feel a little guilty…but it’s the perfect touch of luxury and glamour to my wardrobe!
Hello Henrietta!
Thanks for leaving a comment:)
I too feel a guilty when wearing fur, but again, I’m not yet ready to say no to leather and I guess wearing leather is just as bad as fur, SO…lol
I’ll check out the website. I must admit I’ve never been on it before.
Hope to see more of your comments!
xoxo
Mimi
I’m not going to be mean but I just could’nt read this without responding back because killing animals, and putting them through so much pain and agony for your “fashionable” needs is unthinkable. How can a human being kill for a stupid reason like wearing them?
There are plenty of faux fur and warm products that contain no fur at all! Why kill animals? Why? They suffer so much, they don’t get to live their lifes, and the ones that are trapped in cramped cages can’t breathe, walk,or eat something sutible. Don’t any of you people have FEELINGS????? I just don’t understand the act of killing animals. Please people stop this. It is one of the most cruelest thing to do.
Hi Arely!
Thanks for you comment. I do agree with you, just like I mentioned in my post. I’m actually a vegetarian and I don’t ever buy fur unless it’s vintage. There is lots of things wrong with what humans do for their enjoyment, however I would need a different kind of blog to discuss that. How about leather, do you think it’s okay to wear leather? do you personally wear leather? because it’s just as bad as fur? How about killing other animals to eat them? Is that okay?
Well…obviously not, ( in my opinion ) however , most of the world still does that.
hi …i’m a vegetarian too and also against fur…real fur…i think that wearing real fur is cruel and averybody who has watched peta’s videos knows what i mean…i’m beging all the disigners to stop using real fur on theis designs…please stop animal cruelty!!!!
Wonderful photographs and even more wonderful comments are posted here. Thinking about the process can be very difficult for some people who are torn between their love for the clothing and their compassion toward the animals; but, ultimately, it is up to the indivdual to decide and it is this decision that should be respected in this case.
I have been a fur lover all my life-well, as far back as I can remember! I guess my infatuation with fur started when my mum purchased her first fur coat, a gorgeous red fox, when I was at second grade.
I find the categorical objection to wearing furs the epitome of hypocrisy. What about nutria, millions of which are wreaking havoc to the wildlife in North America so much so that the authorities are calling it a natural disaster? Why not wear nutria fur when federal agencies are spending millions of dollars to kill those animals? In Russia, rabies cases are on the increase simply because of reduced demand for the furs of hunted fox and such. It makes absolutely no sense to object to wearing those furs.
The second point I would like to make is that fur is a natural fabric and hence, it is far superior to any synthetic alternatives. The synthetic fabrics cause skin irritation, damage the environment, are not degradable, but most importantly, they cause STRESS! I have found that caressing fur is easily the best thing to relieve me of the day’s stress.
