I have only discovered Diane’s work this year, however, I instantly fell in love. How can you not, really? Her designs are so eclectic, inspiring and exciting!

Diane Von Furstenberg has first arrived in the fashion world in 1972 with her iconic wrap dress. She became internationally acclaimed for her modern, yet affordable clothing that was perfect for career minded women that still wanted to look feminine and beautiful.

Trends for Spring/Summer 2009 based on DVF fashion show:

Dresses, dresses and more dresses! Collection consisted of mostly feminine silhouette dresses. It’s the easiest way to create an outfit with a single item of clothing. Lucky females!

Bold colors. She used a lot of bright oranges, purple, green and etc. Sometimes, more than one in a single outfit.

Many garments were trimmed in crystals or bids

Influenced by 20’s and 60’s

The goal is to create a hippie chic look with a tiny splash of glam

Fringe is still a pretty hot trend

Skinny belts go over everything

Flowery patterns

Main 2009 spring accessory- Headpieces- the models wore headpieces in silk flowers and feathers.

Lots of gold was used in accessories, as well as garments: gold skirt, blazer, shoes and etc.

I know! She’s a genius! Well…I’ve only moved to Canada about six years ago, and we don’t even have DVF stores here, which is pretty sad :( Yes, I’m discovering new designers like EVERYDAY! It’s really difficult to pick favorites anymore. :) LOL

WOW! I really love her desings! I would wear almost all the items featured in this show, which is rare for me, since I’m so picky…But not her stuff…It’s so romantic, girly, beautiful and flowy!! And she herself seems like a beautiful person inside and out. She seems so humble and a tab bit shy of her own talent and fame…it’s really nice to see in contrast to some other snobby designers out there… Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed it thouroughly! =)

DVF is my favourite designer… while I own only a few pieces of her designs I absolutely lloovve the wrap dresss…you can dress it up or dress it down with for a more casual look… I like the colours that she uses and the cut of the clothes!!! Her designs will never go out of style. xo
