Current La Mimi Obsession: Polka Dots

Current La Mimi Obsession: Polka Dots

I’ve always had a soft spot for polka dots, because not only polka dots are fun, feminine and whimsical, but there is also something Oh, so classic and 50’s glam about them.  Whether it is a flirty dotted dress, playful print pumps or sexy bikini. I take’em all!

You’d have to agree that polka dots can hardly be called a trend because every year the 50’s polka dots get reinvented and redone in a new retro with a funky and playful twist. Michael Kors built his whole spring/summer 2009 collection around polka dots. And yes, I was drooling over it!
Style Tip: At times polka dots can be tricky to wear , so  keep in mind  your proportions, to the size of the dot (for example: large polka dots on a tiny frame will look overpowering),  limit yourself to one polka-dotted piece at a time and steer away from other loud  pattern in your outfit, you should be fine!

Will you be sporting polka dots this summer?

    Mimi,
That swimsuit is adorable and I love polks dots as well for the era-gone by that they remind me of. I imagine Gidget, sitting on the beach… oh sorry, was lost in my childhood again watching TV for a second.
They are adorable and I might just have to pick up a new piece with a few little polka dots. :)
I am feeling better, thank you Mimi! Growing and eating all the time, it is kind of crazy. To go from sick and not interested in food, to what-the-heck can I eat right now!! :)
    How are you love?

Love polka dots too! I’m going for small dots. I think that looks better than big dots on me!

Oh, I’m loving this post! There’s something so fairy tale and vintage-y about polka dots that it sends a burst of Mini Mouse inspiration right through me! Of course, now the itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini song is suck in my head. lol-xxx

So cute. I love polka dots on other people but I don’t think they suit me! Weird!
ps- I twittered you already about this but we should grab a coffee sometime soon because I’ll be in the city for the next 2 weeks shooting some commercials and stuff!
