Bandage Dress- Sexy, yet Refined

Celebrities and supermodels are pictured everywhere, wearing these stunning numbers that give them a coveted hour-glass silhouette. Yes, I’m referring to the hottest dress this season- the bandage dress. Some call it the “mummy dress”, some call it “the bandage”, I call it the miracle dress: If you’re too little, it gives you curves. If you’re voluptuous, it holds everything in just enough.

Who started the trend? -  Super beautiful and edgy Spring/Summer 2009 collection by  Herve Leger gave birth to the new version of a bandage dressing.

I personally can’t wait to get my hands on one of these body hugging dresses, because they are perfect for hot summer nights out on the town.

loving the leger dresses… don’t think i dar tho. wouldn’t be too kind on my lumpy bits ;-D but they are kwl to watch on the runway. also wonder if they’d hike up un-chicly as one walked in real-life… probs not on skinny models, but normal people… probably.

sexy-sexy-sexy!!! love all of them! disagree with Janettaylor – they need not perfect, but normal body.

Hervé is the master! I have adored his dresses for years and his boutique on Rodeo Drive is quite fun… teeny, tiny but fun.
I love the dresses in vibrant colors!
PS ~ Don’t forget to check upscale second hand stores in your area. Many women purchase new, wear only once or twice and then resale. The best deal in town!

I love that Narciso Rodriguez number! I agree with some of the other comments about how such a body-conscious fit can reveal lumps and bumps–time to break out the Spanx, I guess. :)

I LOVE this look! Marc Jacobs makes a black and white one that’s absolutely gorgeous… however, they have more affordable ones at Bebe that are also cute!

YES! You did tell me of that book and I told myself that i would would WOULD read it after Dracula when i finished it (AND I HAVVVVVVVE!!!) hahaha but couldn’t find your particular comment about it in the archives so tomorrow (because I’m super sloth-like today) I will head down and under your recommendation search it out!

I would totally wear one. I’ve been trying to find a really sexy one for those hot summer nights but b/c I’m petit, it’s hard to find sizes that fit (i’m barely 5 feet, and usually a size 0 or xs). Any advice?

I think it’s also nice to see a body hugging shape after so many years of volume/bubble shapes (though I love those too).

    Hi Liv,
I can understand how you feel…I’m 5′5, but even I find a hard time sometimes. I know some stores offer sizes such as xxs, but I think your best bet would be to buy the smallest dress you can find and then get it altered to make it fit you perfectly.
