Sometimes I tend to assume that if I know something then everyone around does too, especially when it is fashion related.  Well…that’s not always the case. A few days ago I was talking to a friend of mine about fashion (of course, I’m obsessed! LOL)  and I mentioned one of my favorite “IT” models at the moment, but she had no clue who I was talking about.

Mind you, she is not a fashion stylist, not even close, but still I felt like people should recognize such big names of the fashion industry. Then I got to thinking that it is sort of unfair how media always talks about celebrities, designers, stylists, etc, however, hardly anyone ever mentions models (Except for the ones that are SUPER famous like Heidi Klum).

Think about it, how often do you see an article in a magazine about a model, her life, achievements and etc? Umm…hardly ever! Models are such a significant part of the fashion industry. The span of their career is so short, so in that time they have to work crazy hard to make something out of it. Although their lifestyle seems so fascinating and glamorous, it is far from reality.
I’ve decided to dedicate this post to Sasha Pivovarova.  The name might not ring any bells at first, but wait till you see her pictures, as the recognition will settle in your memory. So let’s talk about this super model , what makes her so special and how she got to where she is now…

Quick bio

• Sasha was born in Moscow, Russia. She was studying art history at the Russian university of Humanities, when a friend of hers, photographer Igor Vishnyakov, convinced her to do a photo shoot with him as he felt she had something special. He then sent her pictures to IMG (International Model Management) and her career took off.

• Sasha has walked the runway for top designers including Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen,  Zac Posen, Miu Miu, Marc  Jacobs, Balenciaga,  Hermes, Kenzo, Yohji Yamamoto, Louis Vuitton and many others.

• Sasha made “fashion history” by being face of Prada for six consecutive seasons and was the first model ever to do so.

• Sasha is ranked second on the Top 50 women models list at models.com

• Sasha is face of Armani cosmetics

• She has consistently appeared on the covers of the most prestigious magazines such as American Vogue, Italian Vogue, French Vogue, British Vogue, Japanese Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Numero and etc.

• Sasha loves to paint and draw.  Her paintings were shown at a gallery in Paris. As well as featured in French Vogue.
• Sasha was recently married to her long term friend, the photographer who discovered her Igor Vishnyakov.
