We can all agree that Carrie Bradshaw is a style icon. Most of us adore her effortless, somewhat eccentric, yet beautifully extraordinary sense of style and would kill to have her wardrobe, full of Manolo’s, Jimmy Choo’s and exquisite vintage clothing. However, Carrie Bradshaw is only a fictional character and lives on the set of Sex and the City. In fact, Carrie doesn’t even dress herself up. She is styled by one my favourite stylist’s- Patricia Fields.

So, is Carrie’s heroine – Sarah Jessica Parker, just as unconventionally stylish?

Well…let’s take a look…

The Verdict

Sarah Jessica Parker manages to look stunning when she’s out in public or on the red carpet. At times her style even resembles Carrie Bradshaw’s. However, it’s obvious that her style is more conservative, especially when she’s out with her son going to school or just taking a stroll at a park, she definitely prefers comfort over style. Mind you, she still looks cute and put together, but the stilettos are resting at home. And that’s something Carrie Bradshaw would NEVER do!

Hi there-Absolutely fab post my dear-I adore Carries style, I find it very inspirational, particularly her love and mix of vintage and designer. SJP does look great, but agreed, her style off the red carpet is lovely, but more conservative and less inspiring than Carries!

I completely agree with your verdict, Mimi. Every day SJP has the same stylish aura about her, but she is lot more toned down than Carrie would be. I do however, believe that there is a big part of SJP’s personality that can be found in Carrie as well – which is why Patricia was able to play up her natural individualistic style and just exaggerated it more to make a bold statement for the character. =) Great post, Mimi!
