Confessions of a Shopaholic Movie
If you are a true fashionista you might have read or at least heard of a series of best seller books called The Confessions of a Shopaholic by a British writer Sophie Kinsella. Two years ago, I was introduced to the first book by a friend of mine and as soon as I read the first chapter I got seriously addicted.
In a matter of a month I got a hold of all the 5 books. They really took me away to a different world, a world of Rebecca Bloomwood, an addicted shopaholic that has gone beyond all the possible limits. At the time I was going through somewhat similar scenario in my life (not as extreme of course) so I could really relate to her.Becky is such a fun, real, inspiring character, that reading the books makes you wish she was a real person.
Well, the reason I’m mentioning the books today is because they have made a movie out of it, and it is coming out sometime in February ( depending on where you are in the world.) Isla Fisher stars as the adorable, sassy Becky Bloomwood. I’ve checked out some pictures and the trailer and tell you the truth- I’m a bit disappointed.
The movie is not true to the book in so many ways! Becky is suppose to live in London and have a british accent, however, from the trailer it seems that she’s American and lives in New York. In the books her sense of fashion is superb, however, that doesn’t get expressed in the movie. Most of the outfits that Becky is wearing are ridiculously overdone. Having said all that, I’m still quite excited to see the movie in the hopes of reliving that funny, inspiring story and meeting, the one and only – Becky Bloomwood.
I really recommend reading the books if you haven’t yet. It’s such a light, fun read you are sure to enjoy it!
Check out the pictures and watch the trailer for yourself and let me know what you think…

ya, I was also upset when I found out the movie is not true to the book
Thanks for your input ladies
ya.. you’re so right.. im a bit dissapointed too
however im still can’t to watch the movie
Hey Ayesha, Thanks for stopping by. I agree with you and can’t wait to see it.
YAY! I had no idea they’ve made a movie about these books! I’m also a big fan of the character…It is however quite dissappointing that they’ve changed up so much from the original story for the movie, but I guess that’s what they had to do to make it into “big screen / North America friendly”..I’m still looking forward to watching the movie though regardless. It’s sure to be a hilarious comedy…Thanks for sharing your reviews!
hate the movie!sucks!not only did they take out so much and invented so much crap to replace those parts, they even changed the characters completely!Luke Brandon was not even near his true character–from a multi-millionare,he was demoted and mixed up to play the lame role of successful savings boss.Bex’s thoughts became actions that made her into this uncharming dumb character, hate the fact they don’t even bother to copy the accent, hated suze in the movie,Becky was so kitchy–I don’t think they even tried to get real fashion pieces! It was frustrating!they turned Derek Smeath into this common perception of a bad guy which he’s not if you’ve read the book. And i’m just really really sad that Sophie Kinsella allowed this to happen to her own work. It’s given that movies most often disappoint readers, but this by far I think is the worst i’ve seen.It really did the original story injustice. It looked cheap, and I can’t help but feel embarassed that I invited so many people to watch it with me.They thought it was lame, but I insisted cuz I told them that it was Bridgit Jones lame only better 10 times (at least that’s how I felt about the book),but it was just actually how they thought it would be only much much worse for me—
