Penelope Cruz Hair Style

About a week ago, my boyfriend and I, went to see Vicky Cristina Barcelona. We loved the movie and all the gorgeous actors and actresses. The plot was interesting, realistic, and unpredictable. While watching the movie, my boyfriend made a comment about Penelope Cruz’s hair, saying that I should wear it like that. As soon as I got home, I did some research on how to get the same hair. I tried it and it looked just as messy and fabulous as hers! Here are some tips I got from eHow.  I must admit, a curler and Aveda hairspray is the key to creating this look. Make sure you don’t use a smaller curler as it will create curls and not waves.

Here are the steps:

Step 1- Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Penelope Cruz’s hair is full of movement and bounce. Use Aveda “Pure Abundance” volumizing shampoo and conditioner (see Resources). Aveda products are organic and won’t leave build-up on your hair that other inorganic products will. Build-up weighs hair down, leaving it flat.

Step2- Apply a curl-enhancing cream. Towel-dry your hair and apply Aveda’s “Be Curly” Curl Enhancer. Curl enhancers help your hair hold curls better and keep your curls from getting frizzy.

Step3- Begin blow-drying your hair. Start drying your bottom hair first, beginning at the root and moving out to the ends. Move on to your top hair, being sure to blow-dry in a downward direction to prevent hair from getting frizzy.

Step4- Get a large-barreled curling iron. To get Penelope Cruz’s hair, your curling iron barrel size needs to be 1.5 to 2 inches because her hair has just the slightest wave and no curl. A smaller barrel will put spirally curls in your hair rather than soft, “barely there” waves.

Step5- Begin curling your hair. To achieve Cruz’s look, wrap 1- to 1.5-inch sections of hair around the barrel of the curling iron, alternating the height at which you stop curling your hair and the direction of the barrel. This creates a more natural and voluminous look to your hair. Once you are finished, run your fingers through your hair to loosen the curls.

Step6- Set your style. Use hair spray from Aveda’s “Brilliant” line. This will give you the medium to firm hold and the shine you need to complete Penelope Cruz’s hairstyle.
