How to Wear Red Lipstick
Every woman should try wearing red lipstick. It’s so sexy and powerful that it would be a shame to live a life without trying it out. But remember that red lipstick is much like your favourite pair of jeans: one size does not fit all. To pick a shade that best fits your complexion read this article I’ve posted a while ago – The Red Lipstick Myth.
If you are still confused then it might make sense to spend some time with the women at the cosmetics counter and have it figured out once and for all. But it doesn’t end here, once you know your perfect shade, you still have to learn the mastery of applying red lipstick, because it’s not the type of lipstick you can throw on in the dark club or in the back of a taxi. Just follow this simple steps below and you’ll be just fine!

How to Wear Red Lipstick
- Apply a lip moisturizer first and then a thin layer of foundation.
- After the foundation dries, add a layer of face powder, which will help set the lipstick so that it will last longer.
- Next, line the lips with a pencil that matches your lipstick. Keep within the natural line of your lip.
- Apply a thin, even coat of the lipstick.
- Blot. Always remember to blot!
- Apply a second coat and you are ready to go.

I love red lipstick… But unfortunately find that no matter what shade I play with, it does NOT look good on me. Just doesn’t compliment my face at all. But I still found these tips very helpful, and yes, a video would be awesome for next time =)
Red lipstick doesn´t work on me. ;(

For my skin tone, I’ve found I need a red lipstick with a blue base. The yellow based ones tend to appear more orange. And orange tones make your teeth appear…. not so white; quite honestly they tend to appear dingy and yellow.
Great tips on applying foundation to your lips. That’s what they taught me in modeling school years ago.

It was definitely a little time consuming to find the right shade for me but I finally found a Make Up For Ever one that I adore. Happy 2010 to you!! xo, Mel
