Get Rid of Black Circles Under Your Eyes

Pretty much everyone gets affected by the “black under eye circles” at some point in their life due to excessive fatigue, allergies, illness or genetics.  Regardless of the cause, it can be treated, controlled and in some cases even eliminated all together. Let’s face it; once you notice it in the mirror, it becomes rather bothersome and upsetting. No worries, I know exactly how it feels, because I have also been there myself.

Try these 3 easy home remedies to Get Rid of those Dreadful Black Circles:

  1. Apply cucumber slices to your eyes every day for 10 minutes. Cucumber is known for bleaching dark circles, refreshing skin and reducing under eye puffiness. I use this method when I’m tired or stressed and it works miracles.
  2. Put two teaspoons in the refrigerator, and wait for them to get cold. Once they are cold, lie down on your back and put the spoons on your dark circles until it gets warm. This should refresh the area underneath your eyes and banish the dark circles.
  3. Cold tea bags on the eyes is also a very well known home remedy to eliminate black circles. It’s been used in my house since I can remember. The caffeine in tea helps drain water from the tissues around the eyes, diminishing puffiness and treating under eye circles. Tea also contains antioxidants that are beneficial to the skin. Don’t forget to squeeze out any excessive liquid in the tea bags, before placing them on your eyes for about 10-15 minutes.

Some things to remember:

  • It’s not as bad as you think. We usually tend to over dramatize the issue. Just look around, other people have it too. After all, we live in a “workaholic society”. So, please do not let it get to your self-esteem.
  • If you try these home remedies and they still don’t make a significant change, then one of the easiest tricks to hide black under eye circles is to use concealer or liquid foundation.
  • First moisturize your face including the under eye area. Then, dab just a drop of concealer or liquid foundation under your eyes and blend it in so it looks flawless, not obvious.

Viola! The circles are gone! You have to make sure you use a good quality product though. I have tried pretty much everything out there, but my favourite one that I pretty much use daily is La Roche-Posay , corrective liquid foundation.

Are there any other methods that work for you? I would love to know how you treat your under eye circles, so please share!

Excellent article. I agree that the cucumber’s result is quite low. Perharps it gives a better result on the long term? Anyone having a good experience? Please share

I inherited my raccoon eyes from my mother. Ugh. Anyway, what I found works for me is an eye cream called Extreme Eye Rescue by Isabella Pelle. I searched high and low for an eye cream that helped with dark undereye circles and puffiness – and this is it for me. It’s fairly inexpensive and does what it says it does. It’s done a great job of reducing my undereye darkness and my puffiness is completely gone. I also feel that the skin around my eyes looks younger, probably due to the retinol in it. As an added bonus, the company offers free shipping on all orders – which is great b/c every penny counts these days! Check them out online ;) .

ha – its true what you say, we all have dark under eye circles at one time or another. all we can do is treat them, conceal them, and forget about them! Like maria above, i also use extreme eye rescue by isabella pelle. in my opinion, its the best eye wrinkle cream on the market currently. Prior to that I used Chanel and dios santo was that a drain on my resources. Not only was it no better than cheap moisturizer you can buy at walmart, it didn’t mesh well with my concealer – which is odd because it was Chanel concealer. sigh. I guess its true that not all that glitters is gold..

I would love to try all 3 of these remadies. I also heard about one method that really does work:

    1. Peel a potatoe. It doesnt need to be big. Probabley the smallest one you can find. A baby one would be perfect.

    2. Once it is peeled, slice it up into long thing strips. With those strips you are going to lay underneith your eyes for 10-15 minutes.

It is really good for your skin and it is also relaxing! Just try it. It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you!

I love all the ideas and I have tried them all. But I had problems with my kidneys when I was small and had black circles under my eyes ever since. Nothing helps. I don’t have a single picture where even after a number a make-up layers my dark circles are not noticable. I just turned 23 and I can’t stand looking at myself in the mirror. I always look tired and when people comment on me looking tired I actually start feeling tired and depressed. I was so tired of it, that I started tanning, which I know is unhealthy, but it would help hide my circles specially when you slightly burn. My boyfriend is 3 years older than me and he has no forehead wrinkles and I have pretty major ones. Ok, no more tanning, lot’s of water and fresh veggies, no coffee or salt. Enough sleep and 1 more tip that I haven’t seen here is WASHING YOUR FACE WITH ONLY COLD WATER, if you don’t have 10 minutes for cucumbers or potatoes or tea bags, JUST HOLD AN ICE-CUBE on your eye and around it for 10 seconds. The best thing is also make herbal ice cubes from very slight concentrate of water and herbal tea, very calming. That is it. Thank you lovely ladies for your useful and healthy tips!:)
