Acne Prevention Tips
It can be very frustrating to have problematic skin. I have personally been struggling with this problem for a couple of years now. Thankfully it can be dealt with. But every once in a while I get those occasional break outs, and believe me it is not fun! I have used Proactive, and it did help a bit, but once my skin got used to it, the positive effects had decreased also. I’ve tried a few other things; however the results were never that significant. So over the years, I have been doing a lot of research on the topic to help me understand what’s causing me to have these mini break outs and how to avoid them! Note that I’m only talking about minor acne cases here; if you are experiencing serious acne or boils on your skin you should definitely find a good dermatologist or cosmetologist. They are real miracle workers and in most cases can cure your problem.
[SinglePic not found]Here is what I have found from my research:
• While the triggers may vary the main contributing factors causing acne and boils are hormones, genetics, stress, and poor diet.
• Lifestyle can also be affecting your skin in a negative way.
Try to avoid tanning. I know we all like how our face glows after a tanning session, which makes us think it is helping us. Although it might mask the acne at first, in the long run tanning will cause dehydration and inflammation of your skin that will cause you to have more acne. I know it is a hard one to swallow, I personally love tanning, so it was really hard for me to cut down.
[SinglePic not found]Make up lovers should be careful before purchasing make up products. Always read the labels to make sure the creams and foundations that you are using are non-comedogenic, which means that they will not clog pores and aggravate acne. Always wash your hands before applying make up and in general avoid touching your face.
Stress increases you to have a surge in adrenaline. This increased adrenaline leads to a surge in hormones that subsequently causes break outs. For that reason try to take care of yourself, as much as you can. I know how hard it is to get enough sleep, but we should all try to at least get 7-8 hours of quality sleep every night. Exercising is also very beneficial and should be a part of your routine as it will increase your metabolism. Increase of metabolism will boost your immune system and that will only have positive effect on your skin.
[SinglePic not found]Diet that consists of food high in fat, salt and sugar will probably lack nutrients that you need in order to maintain healthy skin, so watch what you eat and drink. Drink at least 8 glasses of water and eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Avoid caffeine that can be found in coffee, alcohol and tea.
Common Acne Myths
• Chocolate and French fries won’t cause you to have acne.
• Acne is not caused by a poor hygiene
• Only teenagers have acne
Tips on improving your skin
The tips that I describe below may vary in results. They have worked for me and many others; however they are not guaranteed to work on everyone.
Chlorophyll- has been recommended to me by my cosmetologist. It has proven to be very beneficial in many minor and sometimes major acne cases. It is a flavorless green drink that can be purchased in any health store. Chlorophyll has many benefits: it detoxifies liver, cleans digestive tract, and prevents cancer and many, many more. I urge you to try it, because it really is good for everything, even if you don’t have skin problems. At least check it out on the internet, and you will see for yourself.
[SinglePic not found]Have Regular Facials: Find a good cosmetologist and go for regular facials. I know they can be pricey, but they are definitely worth it. My face clears up every time I go for a facial and then I forget all about it until the break outs come back. Regular facials are proven to be extremely good for your skin. I’m not saying you have to go every week, but every month or so will leave you with smooth, healthy skin.
Baby wipes can be used as make up removers. They have fewer chemicals, cost less and cleanse better than other make up removers.
Facial Mask is a good way to make sure you face is properly cleansed and hydrated. Use a good mask at least one a week.
Wash and Change your pillowcase frequently. Over time hair oils, skin oils and styling products can build up on your pillow case and transfer to your skin, causing breakouts.
Note: It’s unrealistic to expect results after a week of trying all or some of these tips. It’s important to dedicate time and money sometimes to see real results. I would give it at least a month to really notice a difference. Good luck and may you all have beautiful, glowing skin!

Thank you so much for these tips, Mimi. I found them extremely beneficial and I’m sure that your advice will help lots of people that are dealing with this issue on regular basis. Thanks again!

Hi Mimi,
Check out a line of beauty products made by Paula Begoun, the cosmetics cop. I took a chance and bought some of her stuff and they are amazing. Its priced relatively low and work very well. You can order them online from the US website or there is a Canadian version as well, but it does not have all of the products of the American site.
