2009 Hair Trends – Big Hair is Back!

This year it is all about big, bouncy, beautiful hair.

It almost seems like we are back in the 80’s –the decade of color, acid wash jeans, leg warmers, polka dots, heavy eyebrows and yes, you know it “the big hair phenomenon”. Except, this time everything is more subtle and less dramatic. I suppose now that we’ve learnt our fashion lessons we want to prove that we can do it the right way.

Spring and summer hairstyles are all about texture and volume. Thus, ditch your flat iron and seek a good quality, ceramic jumbo curling iron, as well as extra hold hairspray and volumizing mousse to create maximum body and fullness.

From super curly, to wavy, to big bouffant hair- Volume just seems to be everywhere. It sounds like a lot of fun, but remember not to go overboard with this trend. The key is to make it look as natural as possible…It’s worth a try!

Fantastic! I guess I have an internal “Trend Alert” – because recently, I’ve been trying to add more volume and body to my hair as well, without realizing that the trend is actually coming back! =) Well, now I have to just invest in some volumizing shampoo/conditioners and that extra hold spray – and I’m all set! Hooray! I’ve been waiting since the 80′s for this day, since my hair is naturally curly and I have a mega-ton of it. It’s hard, even when I flat-iron my hair for it not to be BIG. When some of the 80′s trends started coming back, I started holding my breath for the big hair. As someone who has been there before, I want to say that people should remember that mousse is generally volumizing while gel is not, and to get a good hairspray to apply at the roots that is also touchable, like any of the Bumble and Bumble hairsprays (Aqua-Net is not your friend here). You can get great volume in a hurry by drying your hair upside down and giving the underside a good spray before you flip it back up.

its amazing what a cycle fashion is!big hair is definately back! loved it on Chanel Iman,this reminds me of when i was a kid in the 80′s,watching shows like Dynasty,Dallas etc with the women and their large shoulder pads and equally large hair.
honey i had a lovely vals day with hubby,we spent it in as we figured most restaurants would be crowded and busy. how did you and your boo spend yours hun?
